Swiss Precision Meets English Style

At Christopher Ward we are constantly sourcing quality movements for our watches and in doing so are proud to be associated with the Swiss watch manufacturers ETA, Sellita, Ronda and ISA, every one, a specialist in the development and assembly of high quality precision watch movements.

We know that a watch is only as good as the movement at it's heart (pictured right. an ETA Valjoux 7750 which can be found in the C40 SpeedHawk). Among the most intricate and precise pieces of engineering in the modern world, great movements are works of art in their own right and, without question, the finest movement manufacturers are Swiss.

Sellita

Sellita is an independent company specialised in assembling mechanical automatic watch movements. Well aware of the technology changes in a competitive market place, Sellita decided in 2003 to develop and produce their own mechanical movements after working closely with the Swatch group for the assembly of Eta movements, particularly the 2824-2. This association still exists today and ETA still supply components and ebauches to Sellita for this purpose.

Sellita is a successful leader in the watch industry with a considerable volume produced. Sellita combines the master of the watchmakers’ craftsmanship with rigorous quality standards. This has been a fundamental cornerstone and it is one of the main reasons for their dynamic development in recent years. The Swatch group do not treat the selection of their partners and suppliers lightly.

Over the years, this philosophy has enabled Sellita to provide mechanical movements to the mid-range as well as top-end markets and watch brands. With the successful introduction of the SW 200 movement SW, Sellita has kept on developing and further calibres have been introduced into the marketplace.

The introduction of the calibre SW 300 by multiple luxury brands has reinforced their market position and standing and has gained recognition for stable production and high quality movements (pictured right. a closeup of a Sellita rotor and crystal).

Ronda

Ronda has played a pioneering role in the watch market since being founded by William Mosset in 1946. Using the latest state-of-the-art technologies Ronda is one of the leaders in the international arena.

The right combination of craftsmanship and process automation
forms a reliable basis for above-average productivity. In addition, an efficient quality system certified to ISO 9001 guarantees that customer requirements will be met - their name stands for Swiss precision (pictured right. the Ronda 715 quartz movement which can be found

ISA watch movement

ISA

ISA began producing watch movements in the 50ies under the name Fabrique d'ebauches de Sonceboz, which made mechanical watch movements. In 1980 Fabrique d'ebauches de Sonceboz took the turn of the quartz trend. The stop of the manufacture of mechanical movements was a few years later. As a result of various acquisitions of production units, ISA Group was created.

The group developed mainly in the production of quartz movements 6¾ in large quantities until 2005. In 2006 ISA Swiss decided to stop producing large quantities of economic movements. The group renamed to ISA Swiss Watch Mechanisms and ISA Swiss re-focuses its activity on the production of complicated quartz movements with high value added and possibilities of customization.
